What Can I Do To Create A Safer Community?
- Contact the Winnipeg Committee for Safety for information about upcoming events and resources to undertake safety projects/improvements in your neighbourhood!
- Learn about improvements to buildings, property, public and open spaces that can help to create a safer environment for everyone and prevent crime. (The Committee can help you learn more about crime prevention and obtain safety information.)
- Organize a "Community Conversations" event to discuss goals for a safer community and invite residents, agencies and others to get involved.
- Participate in Community Workshops held by the Committee and/or suggest topics for future workshops of use to the community.
- Conduct your own community/building safety audit in partnership with others in your neighbourhood and report your findings to those responsible for making changes.
- Join groups working on safety issues and concerns in your neighbourhood. (The Committee can help you to locate groups and others in your area.)
- Volunteer to be part of the Winnipeg Committee For Safety and/or get involved in activities sponsored by the Committee throughout the year.
- Nominate a group of individuals or an organization for a Safety Audit Award in recognition of team efforts in undertaking safety audits and safety improvements.
